From the perspectives of form and space, (the late) Sarwono Hatmoko clearly sees that the success of architecture cannot be relegated as superficial or ordinary as it serves the important function of accommodating the activities and needs of users and their environment. An architect’s worth is measured by how well he can meet the above criteria. As a senior architect, with a portfolio filled with various large commercial projects no less, Sarwono shares his story with Anton Adianto. He talks about starting his career and his efforts to encourage young Yogyakarta designers through Komunitas Hatmakan Wetan, a local community group he founded.
