Seen from the perspective of Merdi Sihombing, Indonesia is a country with precious riches and fabulous diversity. During a time when a lot of people were ashamed to put on products of their own country and instead became enslaved by a heap of foreign products, he proudly showed up with his own brand of creativity that avidly promotes various cultures of the archipelago. Educating local craftsmen to be more confident so that they can stand tall amongst foreign designers is another one of his many visions for his country. Although many have disparaged his ideas and think of them as impossible to achieve, he steadfastly stays in the front line to fight for local woven cloth through his phenomenal designs.
