Small House, Big Heart

The bigger picture often is conceptualized from the smallest and simplest heartfelt ideas. In the world of architecture, Yu Sing is known as an architect with deep concern for the middle to lower income groups within our society. Unlike most architects who are often associated with glamorous and lavish designs, this graduate of Bandung Institute of Technology dedicates his time to design small and low-cost houses. In his office, studio akanoma, which is located in Desa Laksana Mekar (inside the remote area of Padalarang) the man who admires the legendary Indonesian architect Y.B. Mangunwijaya speaks to Anton Adianto of Indonesia Design about his dream of creating affordable and comfortable houses for all Indonesian people.
